Description
This is a set of standard 88mm slip-in Type 1 pistons and cylinders. This kit requires no machine work and will slide right into any 1500 or 1600cc air-cooled VW engine, making it a 1679cc.
These are considered a “Thin Wall” cylinder set, they won’t be as durable as an 85.5 set, but if you want displacement without machine work on your 1600, this is how to do it!

Our Ready to Run option takes the guesswork out of prepping your piston and cylinder set for installation!
We balance the pistons, rings, and pins within one gram, measure piston and cylinders to match tolerance as close as possible with the set and label according to cylinder (Tightest tolerance starting with #1, #2, #4 then #3), Gap piston rings for street use (message us at time of order if you want custom ring gaps) cut the flashing out of the cooling fins for proper cooling, and apply a light flat black coat of paint to the barrels to prevent rust. We lightly coat the cylinder crosshatch with oil and load the oil ringlands with our own mix of oil to aid in break in.
